I Want To Know Where Are The “Wow” Movies

Perhaps, I am an elitist when it comes to the movies I like to see; and I am even more conscious now of what I see because of the cost now for a movie ticket in New York City. The price is not so much the issue – it’s the “crap” that Hollywood keeps putting out. Where are the actors that played the good bad guys (oxymoron intended): Samuel L Jackson’s quoting of Ezekiel in Pulp Fiction before his victim met his demise? Sir Antony Hopkins in Silence of The Lambs? Lena Olin in Romeo Is Bleeding? Darth Maul (not-with-standing his truncated appearance in the movie)? And the venerable Darth Vader? Where are the movies that rocked instead of the repetitive nonsense we are now being subjected to?I remember how I came to see some of the movies I consider great: I remembered in grad school my roommates talking me into seeing the first Final Destination movie; or my brother nagging me to see Clint Eastwood’s, Unforgiven; watching One False Move on the recommendation of Siskel and Ebert; and my then girlfriend talking me into seeing, The Unbearable Lightness of Being.Ad to the list anything from the Cohen brothers; and The Usual Suspects (with lines like I don’t believe in God, but I fear Him). What about being scared by an actor without the benefit of wearing scary make-up? See Ed Harris in a bad movie name Just Cause; Jeffrey Combs as the mad scientist in Re-animator; Jack Nicholson in the Shinning; Geoffrey Rush in Quills; and Gary Oldman in Bram Stoker’s Dracula; and Christopher Walken in At Close Range; The Prophecy; or basically anything he does.As for the comedies: when are we going to see the young new Bill Murray in Ground Hog Day… a young Eddie Murphy in Beverly Cops… or a young Jim Belushi in The Blues Brothers? How many times are we going to be subjected to fart jokes; the musings of the angry black man; the cool grandmother who curse and enjoy a toke on the pipe? And while we are on the subject of comedy, someone please tell me how is it that Jack Black still gets work in Hollywood? And incidentally, I hope that Will Ferrell do not put out any more stinkers like his last two movies.I find myself enjoying episodic television because many of these shows are superior to movies that spent millions to be made: Look at current shows like Supernatural DVD box set; Fringe; V; Battle Star Galactica (latest version); True Blood; and Spartacus. Even some past television series rocked: any one remembered Buffy The Vampire Slayer dvds; Angel (the episode where Angel dvd season is transformed into a cartoon – classic);Babylon 5; and Farscape season dvd (the bad guy was awesome).I know I have left out many worthy candidates for the genres covered above but feel free to include your favorites or those you would consider stinkers on my lists. By the way, don’t even get me started on the current state of music – that is for another day.Know more dvds about Farscape dvd boxset, please click dvdsetcollection

Anna Paquin Gets Naked (and Bloody) in ' True Blood ' Season Two

Season Two of "True Blood dvd box set" (now on DVD and Blu-ray) is when the show gave up trying to be a prestige drama and just settled for sex, gore and over-the-top, Southern-fried "N'awlins" accents. Not that there's anything wrong with that: There hasn't been this much blood-covered boobage on HBO since the days of "Tales from the Crypt dvds." This set will get you ready for the third season, which apparently features werewolves now, for some reason. Good luck dodging the "sexed-up 'Twilight'" label now, guys. Also in stores: -- Joss Whedon's hilarious "Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog" -- the best thing to come out of the '07 writer's strike (save for Conan's beard) -- finally hits Blu-ray. Superheroes. Neil Patrick Harris singing. Felicia Day in HD. What more could you want? -- "Community"'s Donald Glover stars with his Derrick Comedy group in "Mystery Team," a sharp parody of the kid detective genre. It's about time someone took cocky crime-fighters, like Encyclopedia Brown and Sally, down a couple of pegs. -- Now that "The Road" is available for home viewing, you can be horribly depressed in close proximity to the refrigerator. You're going to need a lot of nachos and beer to get through this one. (That's if the cannibalism scenes don't put you off eating forever.) TV Preview: House, M.D. Season Finale - "Help Me"

DVDSetCollection.com / 2010-05-17
At a press conference a couple of years ago, House, M.D star Hugh Laurie refers to a scene in Star Trek classic in which Captain Kirk looks out over the cosmos, saying ”somewhere out there someone is saying the three most beautiful words in any language.” But says, Laurie, those three words are not what you would expect. They’re not “I love you.” They are, Laurie recalls (though not completely accurately), “Please help me.” Laurie goes on to suggest that “House is a character in need of human contact and some kind of redemption.” That ‘please help me’ aspect I think is an important element in the show.”
“Help me.” A plea from a young woman on the beginning of a promising life; she has a new husband, the hopes of a family. She is crushed beneath a building, and trapped by a giant crane that toppled into the building, her leg wedged under tons of debris. Rescue is not imminent. It is also the title of the House, M.D. season six finale. And it is one of the series finest hours.
I keep saying that, it seems this season. Yes, season six had its problems; I know. But episodes like “Help Me,” “Baggage” (last week’s episode), and “Broken” stand right up there with House classics like “Three Stories,” “House's Head” and “Both Sides Now.”
At the end of last week's “Baggage,” House's psychiatrist Dr. Daryl Nolan (Andre Braugher) hits a tender nerve when he suggests that House's misery may have something to do with his non-relationship with his boss, Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein). House denies the connection, and deciding that he’s had it with Nolan and psychotherapy, he accuses his therapist of being a “faith healer,” preying on those (like him) who “want to believe.” He's given it a year and nothing for him has changed; everyone around his has found happiness—are “moving in together.” He's done everything Nolan has asked (which in itself is amazing for the cynical House)—and his is still (if not more) miserable.
“Help Me” begins where last week’s episode ends: with Dr. Ernest Cuddy’s medical text. House had been holding onto the antiquarian book for years, saving it to give Cuddy for a “special occasion.” Clearly, House believes the window of opportunity has passed for a special occasion they can share, and he gives it to her (and Lucas) wishing them success as they begin a “new chapter.” It’s a housewarming gift. Is this a signal that perhaps House understands it’s over and that he’s lost? Is it resignation? Is he trying still (even after giving up on Nolan’s help) to be grown up about it while trying to steer himself on a new path?

'One Tree Hill' and 'Gossip Girl' May 10 Preview

DVDSetCollection.com / 2010-05-06
In the next "One Tree Hill", Nathan struggles to reach an increasingly despondent Haley, while Quinn leads Jamie on a Tree Hill treasure hunt. Julian shows his finished film to Brooke, and Clay is forced to deal with a deranged Katie (guest star Amanda Schull).
There is still no news whether the show will receive an eighth season order. Deadline noted that creator Mark Schwahn will be pitching ideas for the new season to the network this coming week. And there is a chance it will get partial renewal, sharing it with "Life Unexpected". James Lafferty said they had a little impromptu wrap for Wilmington while saying "goodbye to a lot of people possibly for good."
Meanwhile in "Gossip Girl", when things get tense between Rufus and Will, Serena chooses to stand behind her father. Rufus is made to feel like an outsider in his own family. Jenny deliberately shares information with Will that may ultimately destroy Lily and Rufus' marriage.
After many failed attempts, Chuck makes one last grand gesture to reconcile with Blair, hoping she will finally accept the fact that they are destined to be together. Unlike "OTH", "Gossip" has been renewed for a fourth season early.
"What's in the Ground Belongs to You" and "Ex-Husbands and Wives" air on May 10 starting from 8/7c.

HOUSE M.D. —Best Show on Television!!!!

House M.D. dvd — I am not a big tv watcher, but everytime House MD dvd is on, I am there! I have the first three seasons on DVD and can watch them over and over. I am never bored, even by the shows that I have memorized. Hugh Laurie is a big part of this. The man has more talent than one person should be allowed. Not only is he able to play a very complex character, but he does so with a perfect American accent and makes a character that would be easy to hate very loveable. What woman wouldn't want to take House dvds home and tear down his barriers?!! The other actors take Laurie's direction well and play off of him accordingly. I would love to spend a day on their set, because along with creating a compelling show, I am sure that they have a lot of fun. Laurie is also musically talented (when Dave Matthews tells you you are great, you must be doing something right). He plays guitar, piano and sings with a voice straight from Heaven. Laurie is also gifted with a great amount of eye-hand coordination, which he often shows off on the show by juggling and doing various stunts with his cane.
As I mentioned before, I do not watch a lot of television. I am very picky about what I watch because I have so little spare time. I gave up watching American Idol, but I would never consider giving up House series dvd. If soemone who watches a lot of television tells you a show is good, you may wonder. When someone watches one hour of tv a week and tells you a show is outstanding, then you should pay attention. There is no other show that can come close to being as good as House dvd season. It is worth the time to watch it over and over again. There are not enough starts to give this show the amount it deserves.
